Adria Mobil won first and the last race
16th Grand Prix Avtomojster in Podsmreka near Ljubljana, Slovenia was the last race of the 2016 season. Adria Mobil’s cyclists opened and closed the season with a victory. Jure Golčer was fastest in February on GP Izola, Gašper Gatrašnik won in Podsmreka.

Adria Mobil’s Gašper Katrašnik won the Slovenian “autumn classic” Grand Prix Avtomojster. He and his teammate Jon Božič were in the breakaway group od eleven riders, that were on their own for six out of ten laps. Small group was working together, the rest of Adria Mobil Cycling meanwhile controlled the peloton. Gap was bigger with each of the laps, so it became clear that one of the escapees will take the glory. Gašper was the fastest on the end, and this means second in a row for Adria Mobil – Marko Kump won for the team last year. Race was decided in the spint, and Gašper won ahead of Žiga Jerman from team Radenska and Žiga Horvat from Tropovci.

Gašper Katrašnik: “I can say we controlled the race for the whole time. I talked with Jon Božič when breakaway group was formed and we agreed that he will cover all the attacks in the last lap, and I will go for a sprint. Jon prepared the position for me and I attacked from the last turn and managed to take home a victory. I have to thank my team for the support, I could not win without them.”

This was the last race of the season for the Golden Bike award. Adria Mobil’s David Per took the award for the best Under 23 rider, with is a great result. He’s supposed to ride for Bahrain-Merida in the new season.
