Katrašnik victorious in Poland, Grošelj in red
Finish of the CCC Tour - Grody Piastowskie was exactly up to Adria Mobil Cycling’s taste – Gašper Katrašnik won the stage, Žiga Grošelj was fifth overall and won the mountains classifications.

Configuration of the 4-day event CCC Tour - Grody Piastowskie is very interesting, as it includes criterium, 16,2 km long time-trial and three “classical” stages; one of them was real mountains stage. This stage was where Žiga Grošelj showed great performance – he was part of a three man breakaway and took second place on the stage. He also got enough points for the lead in the mountains classification, which he didn’t let go on Sunday. He was fifth overall. CCC Sprandi Polkowice member Lukasz Owsian won the race.

Žiga Grošelj after Saturday’s stage: “I joined the escape because of the attack of Rutkiewicz – he won the race last year and I knew this is serious. But he had a problem with a bicycle and was left behind. Owsian and I were left alone, couple more cyclists joined later on. Pace was high and the group got again smaller, there were just three of us left on the pre-last climb. We rode together for a while, then Owsian attacked and also won the stage. I crossed the finish line just a couple of seconds later and took second, I also got the jersey of the best rider on the mountains classifications.”

Victory for Katrašnik
Gašper Katrašnik already had a good day on Friday when he took seventh place in the sprint finish. He didn’t took the best line through the last corner on that stage, lost couple of meters and with this also a chance for better result. Today he didn’t left any room for surprises.

Gašper Katrašnik: “Today’s stage was pretty nervous, with strong side wind in the first part of the stage that split the peloton in several small groups. But we all got back together. We had to do two laps with a climb before we headed towards finish line, and this is where team Elkov attacked and there were only 30-40 of us left up in the front. I felt good and I knew I can take it. Per and Grošelj made way for me and took me in excellent position in the last kilometer. I was the first to attack and I kept the position all the way to the end and won the stage!”
