“We have three very experienced riders and six young ones, but they don’t lack of motivation to reach for great results. Right now we don’t have a rider that could win race after race, but maybe we’ll get one out of this riders and he will bring us lots of joy in the future, just like Marko Kump or Primož Roglič did,” was Boštjan Mervar’s comment on the team for 2017. Mervar adds: “Half of riders on the team are new, this is why we used more time on our winter camps – on locations in Trije Kralji, Strunjan and Umag – for getting to know each other and adjust to the roles that each of the riders will have in the team.”
Team Adria Mobil Cycling usually introduced the team after the start of the official start of the season, this year there are some of unknowns before the first races. “But guys are highly motivated and they know that start of the season influences how the season will develop and that you can race more peacefully if you have a good start of the season. This is why I’m not worried,” said Mervar.
Team director Bogdan Fink shares his way of thinking, so does the whole management. Mojca Novak, vice-president of the club, and Sonja Gole, CEO of Adria Mobil also expressed best wishes to the riders.
First race of the season will take place on 19th February in Poreč, Croatia, after that riders will go to the traditional stage race Istrian Spring Classic. Grand Prix Adria Mobil, first home race of the season, will take place on 2nd April. Club Adria Mobil is celebrating 45th anniversary which will give all their events in the season a special charm.
